The party to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 100 club, held on Monday 27th February, was a fantastic success.  The party was held at the Home Guard Club in North Harrow – The whole of Tanglewood moved there for the night and we also invited the Harrow Gateway club members and everyone who holds a number in our 100 club was also invited.  Around 100 people were there and we were entertained by our dear friend Lauren Jones and her trio.
The whole point of the party was to thank everyone for their support by holding a number in our 100 club and the highlight was the draw itself – under the new prize-fund structure we now pay out four prizes every month = £250.00, £125.00, £62.50 and £31.25.  A vast increase on the previous prize fund.  We also held a super draw of £400.  In total we paid out £868.75 on the night.  However this is a fund raising activity and the 100 club has so far raised nearly £85,000 for Tanglewood over the past 40 years.  With the increase in monthly subscriptions now standing at £10 per number. per month, we hope to raise over £6,000 per year from now on.
The four 100 club draw winners were all present at the event and are pictured below = Jackie Howard, Anita Langley, Suzanne Carlen and Paul Havard were the winners of the monthly draw. Leo Weir won the super draw.  6 of the 8 founder members of the 100 club were also present, they are pictured below as are Christine and Margarette – the former set up the 100 club back in 1983 and ran it for 11 years, Margarette took over and ran it until two years ago and it has been run by myself since then. Club member Susan Britchord actually made the draw and she too is pictured holding a copy of the March 1983 Tanglewood Magazine which has a picture of Susan as her mother had won third prize in that very first draw.  We do have three numbers available = 25, 71 & 95  If anyone would like to take them on please get in touch.
More details can be found in the March 2023 Tanglewood Magazine – our 500th issue – which comes out on March 6th
