As you know Geoff has been attending Tanglewood for 50 years. Everything was in place for a massive party to be held at club on March 30th. Unfortunately, and for obvious reasons, this party has had to be postponed. As an alternative date could be several months away, the Tanglewood management committee decided that it would be a good idea to make some presentations now. On Sunday March 22nd Geoff was presented with a clock that, instead of showing numbers on the clock face, it has pictures that have been taken over the past 50 years. He was also presented with a framed “50” sign that has 74 photographs taken at various times over the same period. As if that wasn’t enough there was a 7ft long inscribed banner, again with loads of photo’s, and an illuminated “Tanglewood” sign. A bottle of Champagne was opened and those present celebrated the occasion.
Needless to say Geoff was totally overwhelmed by the occasion but it was so sad that, because of the social distancy requirements, the only people that were present were Karen, Paul and club helpers Caroline and Anita. The latter of those two had been given the task, by the management committee, to organise the gifts and party. I have to say she did an amazing job. I am sure that whenever the party takes place, that will be equally amazing – Geoff will already have the presentations but I suspect there will a lot more surprises in store – something to look forward to in these very worrying times.
All these pictures will be included in the April Magazine. From now until further notice the monthly Tanglewood magazine’s will be posted to all club members and will also be made available to view online
