I have learnt that former club member David Jeremiah has passed away – David had been in poor health for a couple of years and sadly died on Saturday 4th April aged 86.
Me and David go back a long way – in fact when I started attending club in 1970 David was the only club member that I already knew. I had been working for the Gas board since 1963 and David’s brother Alan was one of the gas fitters I worked with.
David was an extremely likeable person and his attendance was second to none – by the time he left club in 2004 has attendance over the previous 25 years was 96%.
There will be more details in the May magazine but in the meantime I have included some photographs here – a couple with Val Green and Fred Evans (both of whom were founder members of the club) and of course with David’s long-time girl-friend Eunice. You may also notice that the group photo, which was taken in 1976 on our way to a club holiday, was featured in the booklet I wrote about my 50 years at club.
On behalf of everyone at Tanglewood I offer my sincere condolences to David’s family and friends.
