Our summer outing was a great success – a total of 42 of us spent the day at Hayling Island. The weather was kind to us, dry and warm – not too hot and apart from a little shower on the way home, it remained dry. On arrival we split up into four groups and spent the next 4 hours enjoying the delights of the “Funland” amusement park. At 4.00 we all met up again for our meal before setting off for home. Each club member, and helper, was given £5 spending money from club funds so with the meal thrown in, it was good value for the £10 it cost each club member.
Total cost of the outing, including the coach, spending money and the meal, was £1,208. Income from club members amounted to £320 A very enjoyable day as you can see from the photo’s.
It was a sad day in that we had learnt that club helper Peter Ismay had died just the day before and Peter really loved these summer outings. I decided not to tell club members on the day, electing to inform everyone at club on the following Monday. I think this was the correct decision as I didn’t want to spoil the day for club members.
