Singles Darts Competition

The final of the club members darts tournament took place at club on Nov 20th between two Christophers’ Gridley & Sullivan. Both players were appearing in their first singles darts final.

In a best-of-five-leg match Chris Sullivan got off to a flying start but was having trouble with his finishing, Chris Gridley was catching up and won the first leg with a brilliant 48 out-shot.  The next two legs was all about Chris Gridley, he was in devastating form and even threw a magnificent 132 winning him the highest score of the tournament prize. There was nothing Chris Sullivan could do but to admire his opponent who won the match 3-0.

Chris Sullivan is pictured with his runners-up trophy whilst Chris Gridley is proudly showing off his winner’s trophy, winners shield and the highest score trophy.  You have to feel sorry for Robert Miller who was in line for the highest score trophy throwing 110 in his first round, that was until Chris threw his 132 in the final – the joint fifth highest score ever thrown in a Tanglewood darts competition (ironically joint with Chris Sullivan who threw that score back in 1991). His throw was actually the highest score thrown in a Tanglewood competition, singles or doubles, since Michael Egan’s 140 in 1999

Congratulations to both players on reaching their first darts singles final.  Chris Gridley is in action again next week when he will be playing in the final of the singles Pool competition.
